Squamish / Whistler FIS Nordic Junior + U23 Cross Country World Ski Championships

Not since the 2010 Winter Olympics has an event of this magnitude been hosted in the Sea to Sky Corridor! This prestigious annual event was first held in St. Croix Switzerland in 1977. Other locations include St. Moritz, Val de Fiemme, Park City, Lahti, Saafelden, and many other magical locations. Previously held only twice in Canada-Mont Sainte Anne, Quebec in 1979 (where Horst Bulau became Canada’s first Junior World Champion with Gold in Ski Jumping) and Canmore, Alberta in 1997. Alex Harvey, Canada’s most decorated Nordic athlete, won Gold at the U23 World Championships in 2011.

In 2023, 500 athletes from around the globe will compete at Whistler Olympic Park in all disciplines of Nordic skiing. This vibrant competition will showcase Whistler Olympic Park in its full glory and boost Canada’s profile as a Nordic event host. We also have some very promising Canadian athletes who will be serious contenders at this event too.
