FIS Nordic Junior/U23 World Ski Championships – Sunday February 5 Recap

The final day of the 2023 FIS Nordic Junior/U23 World Ski Championships included an exciting team ski jumping event as well as the closing ceremony.

The final event of the Championships was the Junior Mixed Team Ski Jumping. After two rounds of excellent jumping, Slovenia won the gold medal with a total score of 920.2. Japan had another great day of jumping and claimed the silver medal with 875.2 points. Only a few points behind (873.7) and with very strong jumps, Germany took home the bronze medal. Switzerland came in 4th, Austria came in 5th, and Poland came in 6th.

The Medal Ceremony was held at the base of the Ski Jump followed by the Closing Ceremony. Teams filed in for the Closing Ceremony with their flags and closing remarks were given by Norman Laube and Reid Carter, Chair and Vice-Chair of Black Tusk Nordic Events Society. Berni Schödler, renowned Ski Jumping expert and FIS Ski Jumping Continental Cup Coordinator, presented the Marc Hodler Trophy to the Champions, Team Norway! They gained the most points in all three disciplines in the Junior category. The FIS flag was passed to Slovenia, who will be hosting next year’s 2024 FIS Nordic Junior/U23 World Ski Championships in Planica, Slovenia.
