With fresh snow overnight and slightly warmer temperatures, it was another excellent day for the 2023 FIS Nordic Junior/U23 World Ski Championships here in Whistler, BC. Today the U23 Cross-Country skiers competed in the 20 km Mass Start Classic races. Despite a couple centimeters of snow overnight, the trails were hard packed for the races thanks to our Olympic experienced grooming team. The temperature today was -4 degrees celsius.

RESULTS: In the Women’s U23 Mass Start Classic Race, Norway’s Kristin Austgulen Fosnaes finished in first place, Germany’s Lisa Lohmann came in second place (+2.3), and Norway’s Margrethe Bergane took third place (+7.2). In the Men’s U23 Mass Start Classic, the top 3 were very close: Norway’s Jonas Vika won gold, followed closely by his Norwegian teammate Edvard Sandvick (+1.3) taking silver, and France’s Julien Arnaud (+3.6) coming in behind for the bronze.
